Synopsis

(mis)match.com is a short film in the style of an objective documentary based on the bitter disappointments of online dating. The film will open in a park- many couples are walking, holding hands.
Tina, a 45 year old, single mum with three kids is looking on match.com late at night. A small lamp is her only source of light. A picture of her three children rests on the desk beside her.
The next day, Tina is interviewed at home about the difficulties of looking for love on this 'love guarenteed' website.
Later that week, Tina is preparing for a date. She is interviewed once again about how she feels about this new date whilst putting on her make up.
Next is a speeded up sequence of her trying on a number of different outfits. She looks at the clock realising she is late and rushes out the house.
The car drives off into distance...
....the screen fades to black signifying an ellipsis. 1 hour 5 minutes later, the car drives back into focus as she gets out, disappointed.
Later than night, Tina explains the awful night she had while sipping a hot tea in her pyjamas.

Three months later.

Tina is sitting on her sofa, tea in hand, chocolate beside her watching a Romantic Comedy.
We return to the park at the end of the film, shooting the same scene however this time we see all the single people left in the world.
The final image is a black screen with white writing which reads, 'Tina is still on the hunt for love...'

  1. Who is the interviewer? Do we see him/her or just hear their voice? Rather than being told about the date could we see a dramatic reconstruction of it - surely this is the heart and conflict of the film? Yes - the final captioning could be her advert going out again.
I'm not sure about satirical - this seems heartfelt and poignant! Look forward to seeing a script. V.R.
